Left’s Backroom Litigation Bomb Targets State Rights, Insurance Companies, and Free Medicine
The Moral Liberal with Steve Farrell
From the pen of Hugh Hewitt:
Yesterday, Nancy Pelosi dropped a new 1,990 page version of Obamacare on the House, and Democrats are demanding a vote next week. Not only is the bill a giant disaster for the economy and for American medicine, it is outrageous to demand it be moved along as though it was a finished piece of legislation. Already, secret surprises are showing up. Example: Far from tort reform of any kind, the bill actually proposes a gift to the plaintiffs; bar — a penalty on states that have or retain damages caps in medical malpractice lawsuits.
Another hint about the immorality and illiberality of socialism, its tactics, and aims. This is a backroom assault on state rights, insurance companies, and private medicine — and no doubt there’s much more coming.
But pay attention and never forget: it is not just the Democrats, but generations of compromising Republicans and their blind party partisans advocates (some of us, perhaps), that brought us to this point.
For at least the last two decades the ruling Republican Party strategy has been about winning elections and political correctness, rather than standing by principle and avoiding dangerous precedents — as if the latter, well presented, isn’t a winner, and the former, EVER a loser.
2010, if it is to have any meaning, needs be not just about throwing out the bums on the left, but cleaning house on the right. “No socialism!” must be the rule of thumb, and I mean by that to include: Conservative Futurism, Center Right Politics, Compassionate Conservatism, Internationalism, and whatever other deceptive name of the day these enter stage left republicans invent. No socialism must mean no socialism.
If not …
… these tea parties, this internet revolt, it’s all a bunch of heavy breathing, hot air, and a soon to be unveiled “don’t tell me the truth” return to the ever more slimy and slippery, slippery slope.
