Have You Forgotten the Power of God? By Steve Farrell

Preach My Gospel Quote of the Day

Yea, and how is it that ye have forgotten that the Lord is able to do all things according to his will, for the children of men, if it so be that they exercise faith in him? Wherefore, let us be faithful. - 1 Nephi 7:12, Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Christ

As I read this this morning it struck me like a bolt of lightening, how powerful the Lord is, how all things are possible through him that are right for us, and that our task is to humbly discover our individual call, and get to work.

There is no reason why this can’t also be the case in our duty to uphold the inspired Constitution that the Lord himself said he raised up by the hands of wise men “for the protection of all flesh.”

For somewhere on that great “to do” list from our Maker, which places duty to spouse and children first, comes our duty to community, nation, and the world … or in other words, our public duties.

Is it possible, after we have taken care of first things first, that this generation is called to be “the salt of the earth,” “the leaven in the loaf,” “the light on the hill,” in the educational, media, and political world as well? To be, perhaps, not unlike the founding fathers, good and wise men who step forward and make a difference?

And let’s not say it can’t be done; but rather find out what our part is, great or small, and humbly, yet boldly, do it.
